What’s it like to GloWild?

GloWild: Legends & Lore presented by Saint Luke's is set to dazzle the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium once again this fall, featuring a new magical theme. Visitors will be treated to an enchanting nighttime journey through two distinct loops: the adventure loop, with elements like Atlantis and dinosaurs, and the fantasy loop, which includes an enchanted forest and a fairy garden. The festival, in collaboration with LEKTRIK ART, promises a mile-long spectacle of intricate lighted sculptures.

Crafted by 151 artisans using over 34 tons of steel and 89,000 feet of fabric, the displays offer a one-way path filled with photo ops, concessions, and entertainment. Special features this year include access to Sobela Ocean Aquarium on Wednesdays and seasonal-themed lanterns.

What To Expect

Currently, GloWild opens at 6 pm each evening for entertainment and fun activities prior to the lanterns being lit at 7:30. Don’t miss the brief performance from Circus Scorpius outside of Helzberg Penguin Plaza at 7:15 pm. (Check back for lantern lighting times throughout the season as the sun sets earlier!) There is no set time for you to complete the route, but we estimate it will take you about 60 minutes. Food and drink options will be available at Beastro Café and near Helzberg Penguin Plaza.

Take in a show! Circus Scorpius will be performing “The Search for Atlantis” in the Beastro Lobby Auditorium at the times below:

Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday: 6:15 and 8 pm
Friday & Saturday: 6:15, 6:45, and 8 pm

Enjoy FREE family fun! There will be activities to enjoy before and after seeing the GloWild lanterns.

6-8 pm: Enjoy a short tractor-drawn hayride, swings, pedal tractors, a pint-sized hay maze, yard games, and more.
6-9 pm: Kids can decorate a mini pumpkin at the gazebo near Polar Bear Passage and ride the Endangered Species Carousel.
Activities will change in November as we switch from fall fun to Christmas/winter theming!

Please note that animals will not be available for viewing. However, Sobela Ocean Aquarium will be open for GloWild guests on Wednesday evenings only beginning September 18.
